Off contract North Queensland centre Justin O'Neill admits he might be tempted to leave the NRL club.

Cowboys coach Paul Green conceded this week they would not be able to retain all of their off-contract premiership-winning stars.

Kangaroos prop James Tamou has been linked to a 2017 move to Penrith.

O'Neill could not guarantee his future at the Cowboys ahead of Saturday night's Suncorp Stadium clash with Melbourne.

Asked if he had a club preference, O'Neill said: "Not really - I am waiting on a meeting with my manager to get a better understanding of who I will choose".
